The Kitten

“ A kitten is going to stay with us, ” Mom said. “ Her name is Nugget. ” “ Cool, ” Harry said. Emmy smiled. “ I love kittens! ”

Rover barked. Woof! “ I wonder if Rover likes kittens, ” Oliver said. “ Nugget will just stay for the weekend, ” Mom said. “ She belongs to Mrs. Rue. ”

The next day Mrs. Rue came over. “ This is Nugget, ” she said. “ Thanks for watching her. ” Mrs. Rue left.

Nugget looked up at everyone. She was fuzzy with big paws. “ Aww! She’s tiny, ” Emmy said.

Meow! Nugget rolled over. She swatted Oliver’s foot. Nugget climbed up the side of the sofa. Woof! Rover ran over.

Nugget jumped and ran fast. Rover chased Nugget. “ Oh no! ” Emmy said. “ Rover might hurt Nugget! ”
