Mouse Pie

Tom listened to Cat’s idea. Then he went into the Dining Hall. “ Where’s our food?” the king cried.

“ You have eaten it all, ” Tom said. “ What?” the king shouted. Tom gulped. “ More food! ” the guests yelled.

“ I have an idea, ” Tom began. “ Cat is the best mouse hunter in the kingdom. So Cook can bake a mouse pie. ” “ A mouse pie?” the king said.

The Dining Hall got very quiet. “ I’m not hungry, ” the king said in a small voice. “ Me neither, ” some lords mumbled.

The queen hurried into the Dining Hall. “ Did I miss the feast?” she asked. “ I have been reading a wonderful book about food! ” She waved a book in the air.
