Jemima Puddle-Duck waddled down the lane. She went past a big bush. Bonk! Something hit her on the head.

" Ouch! ” Jemima said. The thing rolled into the grass. It was bright yellow and round.

" An egg! ” Jemima said. She picked it up.

" I must hatch this egg, ” Jemima said. “ “ I'll look for a safe place. ”

Jemima hurried down the lane. She looked for a quiet spot. But noisy squirrels were everywhere.
