Bird was writing in her nest. “ Let’s go to the beach, ” Kip said.

Bird shook her head. “ I have chores to do, Kip. I didn’t do them yesterday. So I’m making a to-do list. ”

Kip tapped his chin. “ I might have chores to do too. I’ll make a to-do list. ”

Kip looked around his den. “ What chores should I do?” he said.

Kip’s bed was messy. He started to write that down. Then he stopped. “ I don’t need a neat bed, ” Kip said.
